GEOINT Tech Firm Privateer Receives Investment from Far Eastern Group
Privateer, a provider of geospatial intelligence, today announced it had received an investment of an undisclosed amount from Taiwan’s Far Eastern Group (FEG). FEG's investment follows Privateer’s $56.5M Series A raise and acquisition of Orbital Insight in May 2024.
Privateer’s technology is designed to fuse disparate data sources for an all-domain perspective supported by AI-driven analysis for government and commercial customers. For example, the company’s maritime monitoring tool combines space domain awareness, Earth observation data, and AI modeling.
Privateer’s other investors include Lux Capital, Sequoia, Google Ventures, Murata, and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.
Space Solar Pioneer Aetherflux Closes $50M Series A Round
Aetherflux, a start-up that seeks to provide solar energy from space to support US national security applications announced it has closed a $50 million Series A round of financing. The round was led by Index Ventures and Interlagos, and also included investments from Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, and others. The company is currently working with the US DoD’s Operational Energy Capability Improvement Fund to develop a proof of concept demonstrating power transmission from LEO.
Deepfake detection firm Reality Defender announces strategic investments.
Following a $48M series A raise in October 2024, deepfake detection solution provider Reality Defender announced this month strategic investments from BNY, Samsung Next, and Fusion Fund. The terms of the investments were not disclosed.
Founded in 2021, Reality Defender provides solutions for real-time detection of manipulated voice, video, online imagery, and AI-generated content for government and commercial customers. In 2024, Reality Defender was named the Most Innovative Company at the RSA Innovation Sandbox competition.
BRINC Raises $75M to fund drone technology for first responders.
BRINC, a manufacturer of emergency response drones, announced it raised $75 million to accelerate the development and production of its drone technology for public safety and emergency response applications.
The financing was led by Index Ventures. Motorola Solutions also joined as an investor to form a strategic alliance with BRINC.
The partnership between BRINC and Motorola Solutions seeks to integrate BRINC drones and Motorola Solutions’ APX radios, VESTA 911 emergency call management software, Computer-Aided Dispatch systems, Real-Time Crime Center Software (CommandCentral Aware), and Automatic License Plate Recognition technology.
Amca Closes $76M for Aerospace Roll-Up Strategy
The Advanced Manufacturing Company of America (Amca) has launched with $76.5 million in initial funding from Caffeinated Capital, Founders Fund, Lux Capital, and Andreessen Horowitz. Amca has acquired its first supplier—Electro-Mech Components, Inc. —and counts Boeing among its customers.
Founded by Jai Malik, and Eli Giovanetti, who was previously at SpaceX, Amca is focused on designing and manufacturing products like sensors, power units, and flight-control computers that are highly critical to aerospace system function and performance.
Rather than starting completely from scratch, Amca is acquiring these businesses that fit its vision.
